Skincare in Winter

Winter is the time when your skin needs maximum attention. The following tips will help you over come skin problems commonly developed in winter season.

Using a daily moisturizer that contains ingredients such as vitamin E, shea butter or any other natural moisturizing element will keep your skin soft by preserving the moisture. Try using body lotion even before you've left the shower, right after rinsing soap or body wash. It will help lock in some extra moisture.

Hot water showers feel great, but they wreak havoc on dry skin. Try a lukewarm shower instead. Use a mild/moisturizing  soap can prevent your skin from getting dry and itchy.

Exfoliating regularly is the way to rid  of dead cells. In addition, it allows moisturizer to penetrate better. It also promotes cellular renewal.

Try applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen to your face and your hands about 30 minutes before going outside. Reapply frequently.

It is very important to hydrate your skin from within. Intake of sufficient amount of water will help your skin retain its shine and makes it glow.

Avoid alcoholic skin products that have a high alcoholic content. It also strips away moisture, so try to use alcohol-free products.

Simple Home-made Remedies:

  • In order to get rid of external dryness and chaps, application of coconut oil prior to bathing  helpful option.
  • It is better to have your skin washed with paste of ground gram and yogurt instead of using soap high in alkaline content
  • Facial masks containing avocado extracts in addition to olive oil is helpful during winter.
  • Honey helps lock in moisture. Lightly heat 2 tsp. of honey any apply it onto your skin  while warm. Leave it on for 15 minutes, and then wash it off.
  • Apply curd and massage lightly. Leave it on for at least 10 minutes before you wash it off.

If you're not sure how best to protect your skin this winter or if your skin looks infected, you should consult your doctor.
